Driver Unit MK II

The Driver Unit MK II was created to deliver the full emotional intensity of music with uncompromising technical precision, while retaining the compact form of its predecessor, the MK I.

At its heart are hand-wound output audio transformers, engineered with wide bandwidth and exceptional quality. They maintain high impedance across the entire audio spectrum, ensuring effortless drivability with a wide range of amplifiers, while preserving voltage gain and sonic purity even beyond the audible range. Oversized iron cores prevent saturation at subsonic frequencies up to 2,000 Vpp, while minimizing winding capacitance for flawless performance.

The MK II S version adds an impedance switch, allowing adjustment for amplifiers with higher output impedance or specialized low-/zero-feedback designs.

Versatile in use, the unit functions vertically as a headphone stand or horizontally as a conventional amplifier. It features two fully isolated inputs—speaker binding posts for loudspeaker amplifiers and a balanced 4-pin XLR for headphone amplifiers—enabling simultaneous connection of different amplifier types, including bridged or floating designs.

For output, the MK II offers both a 5-pin PRO electrostatic socket and a balanced 4-pin XLR for dynamic or planar magnetic headphones, both active simultaneously. The balanced output includes a rear sensitivity switch with three settings, tailored for headphones of 80+ dB, 90+ dB, and 100+ dB efficiency.

Additional refinements include a low-noise 580 V DC bias supply, precision overvoltage protection (activated above 14 Vrms), and a non-magnetic 3 mm aluminum chassis housing carefully selected, age-resistant electronic components of the highest sonic quality.
